Dr. Nana Owusu

Dr. Nana Owusu, a native of Ontario and Edmonton, has a rich academic and leadership background. He completed his undergraduate degree in Microbiology at the University of Alberta and pursued Health Studies at McMaster University. His journey led him to the Illinois College of Optometry (ICO), where he earned his Doctorate. His academic and leadership prowess was acknowledged with prestigious awards, such as the American Optometric Foundation Carl Zeiss Vision Fellowship and the Cribb Leadership & Service Award. Notably, he was recognized as Colleague of the Year for three consecutive years during his tenure as the President of the student body.

Dr. Owusu's commitment to his profession extends beyond his practice. While in the United States, he served as an adjunct clinical advisor for the ICO Externship Program at a contact lens-based family practice in Florida. His professional affiliations include the esteemed Gold Key International Honor Society, the Alberta College of Optometrists, and the Canadian Association of Optometrists. His dedication to the field was recently recognized with his election to the Illinois College of Optometry Board of Trustees. He also actively participates in the ICO Alumni Council and the student mentorship program, demonstrating his commitment to the growth and development of future optometrists.

Dr. Owusu's clinical interests cover pediatric and adult patients, particularly those with complex systemic and ocular conditions. He is well-regarded for his compassionate approach and ability to manage diverse patient needs.

Outside of his professional life, Dr. Owusu is passionate about sports, both as a coach for high school football and a participant in various athletic activities.
